2011 Competition theme – Urban Beautiful

The 2011 theme, Urban Beautiful, is based on the inspiring and powerful urban jungle. Use bold, large crystals in mesmerising combinations of geometric forms. 10^th May:Deadline to submit entry for online vote

All entries of designs must be submitted on http://competition.e-beads.co.uk/. Applications close on the 10 May 2011 at midnight. Voting will close on 17 May 2011.

20^th May: Announcement of 20 first round finalists

 Of the 50 most popular designs, as voted on the competition website, E-Beads, I-Perles and I-Perlen will select the first 20.

20^th May to 2^nd June: 20 first round finalists submit finished jewellery pieces

The 20 chosen first round finalists will be required to send in their finished pieces by 2 June 2011. Any design not received by this deadline will be automatically excluded from the competition.

The 20 designs will be displayed at Treasure during London Jewellery Week. The Jury Panel will then convene to select the top 3 winners.

1 July 2011: Announcement of winners

All designs of the 17 unsuccessful entrants will be returned to their rightful owners with thanks. The designs of the three winners will be displayed in the Swarovski Showroom and definitely acquired by E-Beads/I-Perlen/I-Perles.

Design of inspirational piece for the 2012 CREATE YOUR STYLE MAGAZINE

The first prize winner will have a once in a lifetime chance to design a piece for the 2012 CREATE YOUR STYLE MAGAZINE. The MAGAZINE will be launched at the International Bead Show in Tucson in February 2012. It is distributed worldwide by SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS and is a fantastic way for your designs to be viewed by the top in the industry.

The designer will be briefed about the overall theme for the CREATE YOUR STYLE MAGAZINE and submit their design sketches to SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS for approval before receiving the products to finalise the design. 

1. Entry must be a jewellery piece, fashion accessory or home design object (note: designs must be deliverable by post).
2. Entrants must be 18 years or over and can submit one design only. Although the competition is targeted at the European market, entries can be submitted by candidates worldwide.
3. Entry must be a new design (not published, sold previously) and entirely original.
4. 60% of the designs must be composed SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS. Other elements can consist of metal, semi-precious gemstones and other materials. For the production of the designs, only 100% SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS can be used by entrants. The use and processing of other (third party) crystal, stones or crystal stones imitating cut crystal stones (pressed crystal stones, semi-cut crystal stones), glassware or other competitive products is explicitly prohibited.
5. To enter the competition, entrants are required to submit on the entry form: 2 photos (on a white background) of their creation, a title and short description, and a list of materials used, prior to the entry deadline of 10 May 2011. 6. All entries will be displayed on the website in the design gallery. Visitors to the competition website will be able to vote for their favourite designs (one vote per design per person). Voting for all entries closes on 17 May 2011 at midnight.
7. Of the 50 most popular designs, as voted on the competition website, E-Beads/ I-Perles / I-Perlen will select the 20 first round finalists. The most popular designs are those with the highest ratings. The 20 first round finalists will be announced on 20 May.
8. All 20 first round finalists will be required to send their finished design pieces to the I-Beads Headquarters by 2 June 2011 to be displayed at Treasure during London Jewellery Week. The Jury Panel will then convene to select the top 3 winners. The designs of the three winners will be displayed in the Swarovski Showroom and definitely acquired by E-Beads/I-Perlen/I-Perles. All other jewellery pieces will be returned to their rightful owners with thanks.
9. Decisions by E-Beads/I-Perlen/I-Perles and the competition jury panel are final - no correspondence will be entered into except with the winning entrants.
10. Designs will be judged on a combination of technique, skill, passion and individuality and how well the designers interpreted the specified theme.
11. By submitting an entry, entrants acknowledge their acceptance and understanding of these Rules.
